OUR PROGRAMS

The goals, statement of purpose and objectives of each program will be slightly modified based upon the cohort and project needs of the local or global community that we serve.

The content of the program is designed to enhance and enrich instructional objectives and content based on activities and programs developed as a result of intensive hands-on practical experiences, including but not limited to:

  • Volunteering with local organizations in Philadelphia that serve underserved populations,
  • Working with healthcare professionals abroad in a hospital and clinical settings,
  • Teaching and tutoring English as a second language,
  • Collaborating with key informants abroad to establish long-term projects for long term sustainment.

ESF has the intention to expand within our local and global communities around the world. Our international experiences are a usually a duration of 2 weeks.

ESF participates and hosts community health fairs, educational seminars, workshops, develop customize programs; act as healthcare advisors and provide nursing care services, support dental and physical health education, and overall wellness advocacy.

Leadership Development

ESF professional members are also mentors and supports our Student Leaders. We foster their development and creation of specific community projects, and provide educational programs that allow them to explore without borders, have direct input and "a voice" in the ESF organization.

Each ESF Student Leader is charged with the responsibility of retaining a leadership position as an Advisory Board member after the completion of their trip.

ESF Student Leaders also function as Peer Mentors for their peers, grow to become Professional Mentors and eventually Group Leaders.

  • Independent Learning and Practical Application. This program does not require course credit to participate. ESF Student Leader customize their research topic and interests to reflect their major or field of study; You will spend more time learning outside the classroom.
  • Be part of change and be seen as a leader in the community. Have access to and support from a strong team of educated, committed, well traveled and experienced professionals.
  • Develop a social network of limitless opportunities at home and abroad. Networking and opportunities for professional internships and positions after graduation; the potential to be mentored by professionals in your area of study or profession of interests; Resume enhancer and potential learning or internship opportunities.
  • Be part of a growing organization and participate in fundraising initiatives that support your travel and experience.
  • Be involved in a team-lead environment where your opinion counts. ESF Student Leaders become Advisory Board Members with a 2 year term commitment, and also function as Peer Mentors, then Professional Mentors and eventually Group Leaders.
  • Become fully immersed and involved with persons of various cultures and ethnic groups to further define an understanding and appreciation for what life has to offer; Travel and learn abroad with persons of a diverse network.
  • Making a difference in the world. Participate in community activities locally and globally that will improve relationships and encourage civic diplomacy.
  • Knowledge that safety is our #1 priority. A piece of mind knowing that a background checks are required of every member and volunteer in the ESF program. Opportunity to stay with a host family. Host families are selected carefully through to protect the interest of the ESF organization.
