"Love Without Borders"

On April 14, 2010, ESF received a very special gift from a group of local students in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. The City of Philadelphia William H. Hunter Elementary School students from Mrs. Mitchell Cadiz-Perez classroom spearheaded a Haitian Relief Efforts titled, "Love Without Borders."

Their school wide humanitarian efforts provided 68 backpacks and "mommy purses" for the children and mothers in Haiti. The backpacks and purses are filled with not only LOVE but school supplies (pens, paper, notebooks), snacks, toys, hygiene products and so much more.

These young students will receive the highest honor in humanitarian efforts and ESF applauds their kindness and hard work to Help HAITI! ESF will deliver the donations of bags to Haiti during the next couple of months and support the children who have been deeply effected by the earthquakes in January 2010.

A special thanks is also extended to nursing student, Stefanie Matos for her donation of purses and Principle Cristina Alvarez for their collective support in the Haitian Relief Efforts!

Local Non-Profit Assembles Dream Team for Relief Mission to Haiti

To hear Shonta D. Collins, RN, BSN, MPA, MSN (c) tell it, volunteerism is less about giving than it is about getting and she is greedy enough to want more. Collins, the Founder and president of Explorers Sans Frontières (ESF), one of the region’s most active non-profit relief agencies, has spent the better part of the last two years finding donors, gathering funds and funneling that money directly into on-the-ground missions, where medical professionals spend days or weeks helping people in places like Senegal and Haiti.

Haiti Relief Efforts Press Release

Dear ESF Friends, Community Partners, Family and Supporters!

Explorers Sans Frontières (ESF) is responding to the catastrophe in Haiti and that we are extremely distraught, personally and as an organization. Local Volunteer Groups Ready to Head to Haiti

by KYW's Jim Melwert

Two local volunteer organizations are putting together relief missions to Haiti. About two dozen people turned out for an informational meeting Friday evening -- some of those people were ready to leave in just hours.

Kathy Weir is a nurse at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

She got an email bout volunteering in Haiti at 2pm. By 9pm, she'd learned she'll be on plane to Haiti at the crack of dawn:
"I guess I'm just ready to go. I've been ready to go since two weeks ago, you know what I mean?"
Weir also volunteered after Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
